We were invited by a lighting supplier to collaborate on the tender bid for the Church of our Saviour, Singapore, where we proposed a bespoke linear mechanical pendant of highly polished mirror surface, that reflects it’s surrounding and creates an illusion of it’s non existent footprint. It’s integration with mechanics and electronics allow for easy maintenance and commissioning. The outline of the cross are also discretely integrated with the triple height stone finished feature wall at the atrium. Both these incorporate Biblical philosophy that symbolises Christ may not appear physically but he is always here. Model making was used as a design tool to study and test the concept.
The other side of the driveway is illuminated with indirect lighting; studies were conducted with models to reinforce our concept and intention.
